by June 20th, 2018

Cristiano Ronaldo has entered the record books as the greatest European goal-scorer of all time.

He achieved the feat after scoring in the 4th minute to give Portugal a -10 lead in their Group B showdown against Morocco at the ongoing World Cup in Russia.

In scoring, Ronaldo increased his record tally to 85 goals to break the tie he previously shared with former Hungarian great Ferenc Puskas who hit the back of the net 84 times.

The 33 year old also now becomes the second leading scorer in international football and is now 24 behind Ali Daei, the former Iran striker, who leads the way with 109.

Portugal meanwhile came away with a 1-0 win to move to the top of standings on 4 points while Morocco, without a point after 2 games, becomes the first team eliminated from World Cup 2018.

On a side note, the match played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow was watched by former FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

Blatter, who was invited by Russian president Vladimir Putin, is currently is serving a six-year ban for unethical conduct after FIFA was rocked by a global corruption scandal in 2015.

The 82 year old Swiss will now travel to St. Petersburg to watch Friday’s game between Brazil and Costa Rica.
