Kevona Davis ruled out of JAAA National Junior Championships

Star Edwin Allen high sprinter Kevona Davis has been ruled out of this year’s JAAA National Junior Championships set for this weekend at the national stadium.

This after she picked up a season ending injury during a recent training session according to her coach Michael Dyke.

Dyke is reported to have said she suffered a hamstring injury and it was in her best interest to pull her out of the meet as she still has another chance to compete at the world under-20 championships in two years’ time.

The 16 year-old Davis who won bronze in the 100 metres at last year’s IAAF under 18 championships in Kenya.

She is the country’s fastest female junior in the 200 metres this year with a personal best of 22.72 seconds.

She is number seven on the IAAF top list in the event. She is also the number two Jamaican junior for 100 metres with 11.16 seconds.

Only overseas-based Briana Williams, with 11.13 seconds, is ranked above her locally.

The four-day national senior and junior championships starts today at the national stadium.
