by June 26th, 2018

The West Indies came up short in their bid to win the three-Test series against Sri Lanka after they suffered a four-wicket defeat in the historic day/night Test at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Windies captain Jason Holder ended with 5-41 from 14.2 overs, but the Pereras, Kusal, not out on 28 and Dilruwan, not out on 23, guided the Sri Lankans past their victory target of 144 on the penultimate day.

After snaring an early wicket, the Windies met stubborn resistance from the Pereras in the form of an unbroken, 63-run, seventh wicket stand.

Holder, later named Player-of-the-Match, saw Dilruwan formalize the result for the visitors, when he lofted a delivery from him to the long-off boundary just over an hour before the scheduled lunch interval.

The result meant that the three Test series ended tied at 1-1, after the Windies won the first Test at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad by 226 runs and the second Test at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia ended in a draw.

Shane Dowrich was named Player of the Series.

Final scores in the match, West Indies 204 and 93. Sri Lanka 154 and 144 for 6.
