Mohamed Salah signs new Liverpool contract

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new five-year contract with English Premier League giants Liverpool.

The new deal, which runs until 2023, does not contain a release clause.

Salah who joined the reds for £34 million from Roma in 2017 went on to score 44 goals in 52 appearances.

He was also the top scorer in the Premier League last season, netting 32 goals – the most by a player in a 38-game campaign – to win the golden boot.

The 26-year-old by virtue of his performances won the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award and was also named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.

Liverpool’s players, including new signings Naby Keita and Fabinho, returned to pre-season training on Monday but Salah and other players involved at the World Cup such as Netherlands duo Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum were not among them.
