Jamaica’s Sunshine Netball girls have retained their number 4 position

Jamaica’s Sunshine Netball girls have retained their number 4 position in the sport worldwide. This follows the latest release of the rankings.

Interestingly Australia have jumped into the number one position displacing the silver ferns of New Zealand who are now at number three.

England are now the number three ranked team in the sport following their historic commonwealth games title win over Australia.

The   silver ferns have now dropped outside the top two in world netball for the first time since rankings began in 2008.

The ferns had a disappointing games, losing to Malawi and England in pool play and then to Jamaica in the playoff for third after being overpowered by the ‘Aussies’ in the semifinals.

Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, South Africa and Malawi will now join England as automatic qualifiers for next year’s world cup in Liverpool.

The rest of the top ten placing’s sees South Africa at 5, Malawi 6, Uganda 7, Northern Ireland 8, Scotland 9  and Trinidad  and Tobago at ten.
