Janieve Russell among best Jamaican finishers at Lausanne Diamond league Meeting

Reigning Olympic and world champion Elaine Thompson and Commonwealth Games champion Janieve Russell were the best placed Jamaican finishers at the Athletissma Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne Switzerland yesterday.

Thompson was edged into second place in the women’s 100 meters as she clocked 10.99 seconds behind Marie Jose Talou of the Ivory Coast who posted 10.90 seconds.

Russell ran well to produce a personal best but was clipped in the women’s 400 meters hurdles into second place …….clocking a time of 53.46 seconds.

Shamier little of the USA took the race in a season best 53.41 seconds.

Jackson stop the clock at 22.84 seconds for third place in the women’s 200 meters as Gabrielle Thomas of the US won in 22.47 seconds.

World and Olympic champion Omar Mcloed faded to a fifth place finish in the men’s 110 meters hurdles.

Mcloed clocked a pedestrian 13.41 seconds as the event was won by Russia’s Sergey Shubenkov in 12.95 seconds.

The USA’s Devon Allen was second in 13.29 while Frenchman Pascual Martinot Lagarde was third in 13.30 seconds.

Stephanie Ann McPherson 50.84 seconds and Anastasia Leroy 51.12 finished 5th and 6th respectively in the women’s 400 meters.

Eid Salwa Naser of Bahrain won in 49.78 seconds.
