by July 9th, 2018

The lawyers representing entertainers Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm made progress in the highly anticipated appeal trial this morning.

Music News understands that the entertainers legal team were granted the submission of three pieces of fresh evidence to be considered in the appeals process.

These include a statement from the main witness which said he and Lizard arrived at the alleged murder scene, in addition to statements given by two jurors about an alleged attempted bribery and suggestions that the jury may have been contaminated; and finally, an affidavit written by Shawn Storm about him being excluded from in chambers discussion about alleged bribe.

An elated Bert Samuels who is representing entertainer Shawn Storm says they got almost all that they wanted.

Despite the small victory, Vybz Kartel did not attend court but is in good spirits. According to one of his lawyers, Valrie Neita Robertson, it was Kartel’s decision not to attend.

Miss Robertson further explains that they are pleased with today’s outcome.

The Court of Appeal hearing was adjourned until next week Monday (July 16) when Bert Samuels is to begin oral submissions on behalf of entertainer Shawn Storm.

Tom Tavares Finson and Valrie Neta Robertson are expected to follow on behalf of Vybz Kartel.

Entertainers Vybz Kartel, and Shawn Storm, along with two others were convicted in March 2014 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Williams was killed in August 2011 at a house in Havendale, St Andrew.
