by July 25th, 2018

The winner of the three-match One Day International series between the West Indies and Bangladesh will come down to the third and decisive game in St. Kitts.

This after a century by Shimron Hetmyer coupled with a superb final over by skipper Jason Holder saw the Windies battling to beat the visitors by 3 wickets in Guyana to level the series at one-all.

The Windies after losing the toss and being inserted to take first strike were dismissed for 271 in 49.3 overs.

They were led by Man of The Match Hetmyer who slammed 7 sixes and 3 fours in his quick-fire knock of 125 following the early dismissal of power hitters Chris Gayle (29) and Evin Lewis (12).

The 21 year old who faced just 93 balls also put on 103 for the 5th wicket with Rovman Powell who made 44.

He was also instrumental in the Windies cracking 89 off the last 10 overs where he hammered 6 sixes in the last 10 overs alone.

Rubel Hossain – 3-61 – was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers.

The Tigers in reply were restricted to 268 for 6 after needing just 8 runs off the last 6 deliveries.

Holder who ended with 1-66, conceded just 4 runs and took a wicket in a spectacular final over to lead the Windies to victory and level the series.

Holder started the over by removing Mushfiqur Rahim, who swatted a full-toss straight to deep midwicket, bringing back memories of Bangladesh’s 2016 meltdown against India in Bengaluru.

Holder then contained Mosaddek Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza to just four runs off the next five balls, and roared the loudest, having extracted sweet retribution after being tonked for 62 runs from his nine previous overs.

Final scores, West Indies 271, Bangladesh 268 for 6.

The third and final game will be played at Warner Park in St. Kitts on Saturday.
