Bangladesh beat Windies by 18 runs to take series 2-1

Bangladesh led by a century knock from opening batsman Tamim Iqbal wrapped up a 2-1 series victory over the West Indies, winning the third and deciding One Day International by 18 runs at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

After electing to bat Bangladesh, with Iqbal stroking 7 fours and 2 sixes on his way to 103, compiled 301 for 6 from their 50 overs.

Mahmadullah 57 not out and Mashrafe Mortaza, who fell for 36, put on 53 for the 5th wicket.

Shakib Al Hasan contributed 45 as Windies captain Jason Holder (2-55), Ashley Nurse (2-53), Sheldon Cottrell (1-59) and Devendra Bishoo (1-42) were the wicket-takers for the home team.

Chris Gayle spearheaded the Windies response, slamming 6 fours and 6 sixes on his way to 73 from 66 balls while Man of The Match Rovman Powell struck 5 fours and 4 sixes on his way to 74 not out from 41 deliveries.

Shai Hope also cracked 5 boundaries on his way to 64 but the Windies fell short at 283 for 6.

Shimron Hetmyer struck 2 fours in his 30 off 42 balls before Mehidy Hasam Miraz bowled him with one that skidded on from short of a length.

Hope, who was dropped by Rubel at long-off on 36, added another 45 runs for the fifth wicket with Powell who had to do all the heavy lifting at the end.

Hope finally fell in the 44th over, with West Indies requiring to score at more than 10 an over.

Bangladesh just held on to the win. Mehidy was the best bowler on show once again, picking one for 45 while Mashrafe took 2 for 63. Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain also took one wicket each.
