AC Milan sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan

by August 2nd, 2018

Seven-time European champions AC Milan have announced the loan signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Serie A champions Juventus.

The 30-year-old finalised his move to the San Siro after completing his medical on Thursday.

As part of the deal, Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci makes a sensational return to Juventus after just one season in Milan having joined the previous summer for £35.1m. Juve defender Mattia Caldara is also expected to move to Milan.

Higuain moved to Juventus in 2016 for £79 million after scoring a record 36 Serie A goals in the previous season for napoli.

The 30-year-old has won Serie A and Coppa Italia titles in each of his two seasons with Juventus and scored 55 goals in 105 appearances in all competitions, including 40 goals in 73 outings in Serie A.

Milan will reportedly pay an initial £16m as part of a season-long loan deal, with the option of making the move permanent for an additional £32m at the end of the season.

AC Milan’s Instagram account posted a video of Higuain in their club colours with the caption “Higuain, ready to start”.

Higuain’s deal materialized following Cristiano Ronaldo’s £100 million move to Juventus from Real Madrid.
