Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders off to flying start in Hero CPL T/20

Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders got off to a flying start in the Hero/Caribbean Premier League T/20 cricket competition last night.

This after they hammered the St Lucia stars by 100 runs in Port of Spain.

Batting first the Knight Riders raced to 195 for 6 off their allotted 20 overs, led by Colin Munro who smashed 68 runs from 48 balls and wicket keeper Denesh Ramdin who belted an unbeaten 50 off 27 deliveries.

Captain Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine both fell for 17.

Bowling for the stars Kieron pollard and Kesrick Williams bagged two wickets apiece.

In reply the stars who failed to win a single match in the 2017 edition were in trouble within the first eight overs as they wobbled to 53 for 6, before they crashed to 95 all out in 17. 3 overs.

Dwayne Bravo and Fawad Ahmed did most damage with the ball for the winners after bagging 3 wickets each.

The Knight Riders will next be in action tomorrow when they face former champions Jamaica Tallawahs at the Queens Park Oval.

The competition continues this evening with the Guyana Amazon Warriors at home to the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Providence.
