Messado files for removal from attorneys roll

by August 10th, 2018

Embattled attorney-at-law, Jennifer Messado has filed an application to have her name removed from the roll of attorneys, registered to practice law in Jamaica.

The application, which was submitted to the Supreme Court yesterday (Aug 9), names the General Legal Council as a respondent.

In an interview with Irie FM News, Ms. Messado’s attorney, Patrick Bailey, says among the reasons for the request, was ill-health on the part of his client, which he says will not improve with the notoriety surrounding her case.

He says, filing the request to have her name removed from the list of licensed attorneys, was the responsible thing for M. Messado to do, at this stage in her career.

Messado is facing the court, on several fraud related charges, relating mostly to land transactions.

Allegations are that she defrauded several individuals of millions of dollars, in relation to the sale of properties in the Corporate Area.

She is to return to the Kingston and S. Andrew Parish Court on September 11, to answer to the charges.
