Opposition Spokesman on Education, Ronald Thwaites, has called on government to triple its scholarship offerings to mathematics teachers, as part of efforts to ensure that students get the best possible outcome in the subject area from qualified educators.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday (Aug 30), Reverend Thwaites lamented that students leave school with inadequate preparation in math.

Reverend Thwaites said about 40 percent of primary school math teachers are not certified.
