Police Federation fed up with Finance Ministry

by September 3rd, 2018

An insult and a mockery.

That is how the police federation is describing the governments wage offer of $122 per day.

Federation Chairman Corporal Arleen McBean told Irie FM News that the police officers will not accept that offer.

The federation is demanding that the Finance Ministry stop the mockery of the negotiation process for the contract period 2017- 2019 and continue the wage talks no later than Friday, September 7.

This comes on the heels of a recent correspondence that was received from the Ministry of Finance and Public Service that the Minister of Finance Dr. Nigel Clarke will be unable to accede to request to continue the negotiation process in good faith.

Corporal McBean said this is unacceptable.

She said the rank and file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have been experiencing high levels of destitution and indignation because of what she calls the lackadaisical approach by the government.

The Federation Chairman added that the hard-working rank and file members of the force are very restive and annoyed at the diminished value placed on their service.
