The West Indies women by beaten by 40 runs in the first One Day International in the third round of the ICC Women’s Championship at Kensington Oval in Barbados yesterday .
The Caribbean women chasing 202 runs for victory fell short at 161 all out in 46 overs. Shemaine Campbell led the way with 43, while left-handed opener Kycia Knight made a painstaking 23 from 57 balls, vice-captain Anisa Mohammed also supported with 23 and Deandra Dottin 19.
This against Marizanne Kapp who snatched 3 for 14.
Earlier the West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor grabbed 3 for 37 and Deandra Dottin 2 for 36 but the South Africans batting first still managed to plot their way to 201 for nine in 50 overs.
Sune Luus with a half century 58 led the way for the tourists while Dane van Niekerk supported with an unbeaten 46 .
