Tufton: Jamaica at a crossroads with NCD’S

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the country is at a crossroads in the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases, which are affecting the lifestyle of Jamaicans.

He was speaking at the Nurses Association of Jamaica Annual Conference at the Royalton Hotel in Trelawny, yesterday (Oct 12).

He said the number of Jamaicans suffering from varying types of NCD’s is on an upward trajectory as it relates the health and lifestyle status.

Dr. Tufton said the country’s human resource has found itself in an unhealthy condition, as many people are at risk and place a great burden on the health system.

He added that recent data, relating to people’s lifestyles choices, is cause for concern.

Dr. Tufton called on stakeholders in the health sector to continue the fight against NCD’s.
