Opposition calls on Government to end wage issue with police

by October 16th, 2018

Opposition Spokesman on National Security Fitz Jackson has called on the government to quickly settle the wage issue with the police force.

He was speaking today (Oct 16) in parliament as the members debated the extension of the state of emergency in St. James and the Mt. Salem zones of special operation.

Mr. Jackson raised concern about the continuation of the security measures, with more police officers being deployed, to work in strenuous conditions.

He also noted that the pulling of cops from a division to supplement cops in the zoso and soe areas has resulted in limited resources being left behind, that are not able to respond to the needs of citizens.

He said settling the wage issue would boost morale of the cops.
