Irie Fm’s role in the development of women’s football in Jamaica has not gone unnoticed.

This follows Jamaica’s historic qualifications to the FIFA Women’s Football World Cup finals in France next year.

President of the Jamaica football federation Michael Ricketts in congratulating those who have supported the women’s programme over the years lauded Irie Fm for its unwavering support.

Those who have also helped to pave the way for Women’s football in Jamaica, include : The late Captain Horace Burrell, his company Captains Bakery, Ian Forbes, Sherwin Williams, Vin Blayne, Elaine Walker -Brown, Xavier Gilbert, Charles Edwards, Chris Bender, Lavern Deer, Clive Wedderburn, Micheal Lowe, Jean Nelson, Journalist Nicholas Evans, Irie Fm, Ian Burnett, Cedealla Marley, Merron Gordon, Lorne Donaldson, Hue Menzies, Andrew Pryce, Hubert Busby, Janine Mundel Omar Folkes, players which include but is not limited to : Veneisha ‘String bean’ Reid, Alecia James, Nicole ‘Schillachi’ Berwise, Bernadette Mairs, Taneisha Francis among others.
