It was a frightening experience for some students of the Mona Heights Primary, who witnessed a vendor being gunned down outside the school gate, this morning (Oct 19).

The incident occurred sometime after 11 o’ clock.

Principal Fabian Mahabeer, says a teacher was conducting a science class in the school yard, while other students were milling about, when the vendor was shot.

He says the students scampered for cover after hearing the gunshots, even as the teacher tried to keep them safe.

The students were offered grief counselling.

He says some parents on hearing of the situation picked up their children, while the other students were kept at school until the police processed the crime scene.

Mr. Mahabeer says the incident again highlights the lack of regard for life.
