by October 25th, 2018

Former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has ended his stint as spin bowling coach of Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy to take up the role of assistant coach with the West Indies.

The 48 year old, who been an integral part of the NCA set up in Lahore, was originally scheduled to start West Indies duties on the current tour of India, but was unable to link up with the squad because of visa glitches, as per reports in ESPNcricinfo.

As such his first assignment will be the upcoming tour of Bangladesh, where the Windies are slated to play two Tests, Three ODIS and three T20 Internationals.

The tour will start with a two-day practice match in Chittagong followed by the Test series.

Mushtaq served as Pakistan’s bowling coach for 18 months after which he was replaced by Azhar Mahmood back in 2016.

Earlier in May of this year he worked with the Windies for one month as their short-term spin bowling coach.

The terms of the current Windies contract need him to commit to the team 150 days each year.
