by October 28th, 2018

Jamaica’s Senior Sunshine girls won the silver medal at the just concluded INF Fast Five World Netball Series in Australia this morning after a narrow 34-33 loss to New Zealand in the Grand final at the Melbourne Arena.

The Sunshine Girls did the nation proud in copping the silver medal with a stout performance on the night, and getting to the gold medal game losing only once in the process.

Of their five games played over two days their only loss came against Australia on day one. However that stumble was coloured by wins over South Africa and Malawi.

This was followed up a narrow 23-22 win over New Zealand and a 42-37 win over defending champions England.

However the preliminary round win over New Zealand could not be replicated as New Zealand held on to take the gold.

Top shooter Romedla Aiken led the way for the Jamaicans netting 16 goals of 21 attempts, for 76 percent shooting and Shanice Beckford supported with 4 goals from 8 attempts.

Bailey Mes led the way for the winners with 13 goals from 19 tries.

Meanwhile Shamera Sterling won the award for the player of the tournament and became the first defender to take the prize .
