Jamaica’s 2018 Diamond League winner Fredrick Dacres has been named North America Central American and the Caribbean (NACAC) male athlete of the year for 2018.
Dacres who was the diamond league discuss winner also captured the Commonwealth Games and NACAC Championships titles, while finishing the season unbeaten.
The NACAC female athlete of the year crown was won by the Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who was also unbeaten in 15 races this season.
Jamaica’s world junior sprint double champion, Brianna Williams and Cuban Jordan Díaz were the junior award winners.
Williams’ 200metres victory came in a meet record time of 22.50 seconds.
Triple jumper Díaz won the World Under 20 Championships, NACAC championships and Youth Olympic Games.
