Bike crashes in Manchester & St Elizabeth push fatalities to 301

Two separate bike crashes between yesterday (Nov 7) and today (Nov 8) have pushed the road fatality count to 301.

Both male victims remain unidentified.

In the first incident in Manchester yesterday, reports are that about 12:00 p.m. a Toyota Axio motorcar turned into the path of a motorcyclist, causing the collision along the Downs main road, in the Prospect area.

And, in the second incident in St. Elizabeth today, about 11: 30 a.m. a motorcyclist reportedly over took a line of traffic and collided with a bus, along the Santa Cruz main road, in the Lacovia area.

Head of the Road Safety Unit Kenute Hare said in relation to the Manchester accident, the biker was wearing his safety gear, but extensive internal injuries resulted in death.

As for the St. Elizabeth crash, Mr. Hare said this biker was not wearing safety gear.

The RSU head again lamented that road users are not adhering to proper road etiquette.
