Defending champions Windies Women, led by career best figures from captain Stafanie Taylor, chalked up their second straight victory at the ongoing ICC Women’s World T20 after securing a 31-run win over South Africa at the Darren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest 108 for victory, the South Africans were looking steady on 41-1 after 10 overs. However Taylor, later named Player of the Match, bagged 4-12 to engineer a collapse that saw the South Africans eventually bowled out for 76.

The Windies Women was aided by two outstanding pieces of fielding by Deandra Dottin that initially brought back the title holders in the game as South Africa lost the last five wickets for one run.

Earlier a 45 run partnership between Kycia Knight (32) and Jamaican Natasha McLean (28) rescued the Caribbean team who posted 107 for 7 in 20 overs.

Shabnim Ismail took 3 for 12 for the South Africans.

West Indies Women with the victory lead Group A with maximum 4 points from 2 games and are now within a win of a semi-final spot.

They will play their third match on Friday, against Sri Lanka, while South Africa take on England earlier that day.
