Jamaica’s  world  record holder Alia  Atkinson  placed  out  of  the  medals  yesterday  on the  opening  round  of  the  7th  and  final  stop  of  the  FINA world cup  series   at  the  OCBC Aquatic centre,  in  Singapore.

She  had  to  settle  for  4th  place  in the  women’s 200  metres  breastroke  where  she  was  timed  at  2-minutes-25.75 seconds.

Yuliya Effimova of Russia  took  the  event in 2-minutes-16.05 seconds.

Atkinson will be in action in two events  today……….. she  will  contest  the  women’s  100  metres  breastroke  event  as  well  as  the  women’s  50  metres butterfly.
