Cops urge use of Returning Residents Handbook

by December 8th, 2018

The police are reminding citizens that they can access via online and download a Returning Residents Handbook.

The handbook is available from the online publishing website Issuu.

The advisory comes in the wake of the murders of Jamaicans who returned to the island in recent months, the latest cases being that of Karen Cleary-Brown in St. Mary, and Barbara Findley in St. Elizabeth.

In a statement today (Dec 8) the police said the handbook, which gives general information about resettling in Jamaica, including security information, is also available on the social media pages of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, and on the Jamaica Customs website.

Persons are being encouraged to download and share the handbook with relatives and friends, both locally and in the diaspora.

Copies will also be made available through the JCF’s community safety and security branch.

Titled “Welcome Home’, the handbook came out of a meeting in July of this year that involved persons from the ministry of foreign affairs, the police, and other stakeholders.
