Shai Hope’s century guides West Indies cricketers to their first victory on their tour of Bangladesh

Led by a sparkling third ODI century by Shai Hope, the West Indies cricketers chalked up their first victory on their tour of Bangladesh after they romped to a four wicket victory over the hosts in the second One Day International in Dhaka.

In the process the windies level the three match series at one all.

Hope in anchoring the innings cracked an unbeaten 144 as the Caribbean side chasing a victory target of 256 achieved the win at 256 for 6 with two balls to spare.

Hope faced 144 balls and hammered 12 fours and three sixes, and he shared in a 70 run 7th wicket partnership with Keemo Paul who ended unbeaten on 18

He also had 65 run second wicket partnership with Darren Bravo who made 27 and he also added 62 for the third wicket with Marlon Samuels 27.

Rubel Hussein 2 for 57 and Mustafizur Rahman 2 for 63 were the main wicket takers for Bangladesh.

Earlier the hosts sent in to bat were restricted to 255 for 7 with Jamaican Oshane Thomas leading the way for the ‘Windies with 3 for 54.

There was also a wicket each for Devendra Bishoo, Keemo Paul, Kemar Roach and captain Rovman Powel.

Shakib al Hasan was the top-scorer for Bangladesh with 65, ably supported by Mushfiquor Rahim 62, Tamin Iqbal an even 50 and Mamadulla 30

The deciding third and final game will be played in Sylhet on Friday.
