Rubis responds to concerns over service station in Kingston

by December 29th, 2018

Rubis Energy Jamaica Limited has sought to dispel claims that the Water Lane service station will be closed, stating that the changes being implemented at the station will not disrupt operations.

This in the wake of protests by residents who objected to the termination of the contract of Phillip Chong, a past President of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA).

The (JGRA) has also come out in defence of Chong and stated that members are restive over what they say is the unfair and callous treatment meted out to another member.

In a statement last evening (Dec 28) Rubis Retail Manager Raymond Samuels said the company is moving to change the business model of the Water Lane service station in Downtown, Kingston.

This action will in no way disrupt services at the site, or any other Rubis location, contrary to the claims being made by the JGRA.

He said the water lane service station is owned by Rubis, and the company’s move to place the service station under the direct management of Rubis Energy Jamaica, falls within Rubis’ legal rights as owner of the property.

He said Rubis is working to improve the services at this site, to better satisfy customers and that Rubis’ goal is to continue to contribute to the productivity and livelihood of staff and the surrounding communities.

Noting that members from the Water Lane community became concerned after rumours of a possible closure and potential loss of jobs at the service station, Samuels said there will be no closure or loss of jobs.
