West Indies captain Jason Holder and pacer Shannon Gabriel have been named in Cricinfo’s test team of the year.
Holder scored 336 runs at an average of 37.33 and took 33 wickets at an average of 12.39, while Gabriel ended the year with 37 wickets at 19.54 apiece.
Interestingly India was the no. 1 test side through 2018, but only one Indian, the unstoppable Virat Kohli, makes it to the test team of the year compared to number 8 ranked west indies with two selections.
In the meantime Shai Hope is the lone West Indian in the one day international team of the year following his 875 runs at an average of 67.30 and the hard-hitting Jamaican Andre Russell who scored 625 runs at a strike rate of 183.82 is in the 20 team of the year.
Russell also took 35 wickets at 24.14 and an economy rate of 9.
