Shane Shillingford suspended by CWI for illegal action

by January 4th, 2019

Former Test off-spinner Shane Shillingford has reportedly been suspended by Cricket West Indies for an illegal action.

It rules him out of the third round Regional Four Day Championship match between the Jamaica Scorpions and Windward Islands Volcanoes at Sabina Park.

The Dominican was reported following the Volcanoes’ first round match against Guyana Jaguars in St. Lucia.

The report indicates that video footage was subsequently sent to England for analysis, confirming the suspicion of match officials.

The two deliveries from Shillingford which came under the spotlight were the faster ball and the doosra.

This is not the first time Shillingford has found himself in trouble with officials over his action. He only resumed bowling in 2014 after being slapped with an international cricket council ban for an illegal action.
