Twin girls killed in house fire

by February 1st, 2019

As investigations continue into the fire which left twin girls dead on Grants Pen Road, St. Andrew last evening (Jan 31), police say they have interviewed several members of the toddlers’ family.

Two year old Nieelia and Nahaila Pinnock perished in the fire which destroyed their home.

Preliminary information from the fire brigade is that the fire was caused by a burning candle left unattended in the house.

Superintendent in charge of the Kingston and St. Andrew Fire Brigade Patrick Gooden, says the fire destroyed two dwellings on the property, and left some 15 people homeless.

He says the fire brigade was alerted to the fire, minutes to 8 o’ clock, last evening.

Superintendent Gooden says fire-fighters were unable to rescue the twins, due to the severity of the fire.

He confirmed that the children were left in the care of a family member who reportedly left them sleeping in a bedroom.
