by February 16th, 2019

The Curtains came down on the 2019 INSPORTS All-Island Primary School Football and Netball competitions on Friday in convincing fashion in the garden parish of St Ann.

This as Bethel of Hanover and Bethabara from Manchester were both crowned respective champions  at the Noranda Bauxite Sports Complex in Discovery Bay.

Bethel, the Champions of the parish of Hanover champions, carved their way to a first major national football title, as they prevailed 2-1 over Kingston opponents St Benedict’s in a gripping finale.

Bethel took the lead near the half time mark when Owen Jumpp slotted home a miscued shot, while his brother Randy Jumpp double the advantage shortly after the resumption.

However, the boys from Harbour View, call them ‘The little starts of the East’ if you will found a lifeline when Leon Rhone gave St Benedict’s hope with a goal in the 41st minute but they were unable to find a second, and thus led Bethel into wild celebrations.

In the netball final Manchester’s Bethabara met the expectations of the title favourites, by stopping Corinaldi Avenue Primary of St James 11-7. Bethabara, minus five of their starting players, were still too strong for their rivals, as they led from the start to etch their name on the INSPORTS trophy for the first time.

Meantime, Gregory Park of Portmore secured third place following a 33-3 demolition of Portlanders Ken Wright.

Dethroned football champions McAuley sealed third spot in the football play-off when they clipped Prospect of St Thomas 1-nil courtesy of a Steven Bull strike in the 34th minute.

The winning teams each walked away with $200,000; second-placed $125,000; third-placed $100,000 and fourth placed $75,000.
