JLP councillor for the Southfield division in the St. Elizabeth parish council, Gregory Myers is expected to cross the floor to the People’s National Party (PNP), at Thursday’s council sitting.

Irie FM News understands that Myers indicated in a letter to the secretary manager at the council that he will be joining the PNP, which already has a 9 to 6 majority in the council.

The 45-year-old Myers, who is a primary school teacher, became councillor in 2012.

He replaced his father, Shirley Myers, who was councillor from 1986 to 2012.

His decision follows a JLP delegate’s selection process in March, where Myers was defeated by businessman Albert Williams.

That means he would not be contesting for the JLP in the next elections.
