by February 28th, 2019

Former Jamaica and West Indies batsman Xavier Marshall is in line to play his first match for the United States in more than a year after being named in a 14-man squad for the tour of the United Arab Emirates in March.

The tour will mark the USA’s T20I debut in a two-match series against the UAE at the ICC Academy on March 15 and 16.

Marshall played seven Test matches and 24 ODI’s and six T20I’s for the Windies between 2005 and 2009.

The 32 year old made his USA debut at the Regional Super50 in Antigua in January 2018, finishing with 137 runs in eight innings, including one half-century – at an average of 17.12.

However he was subsequently left out of a 33-man squad that was used the help select the USA’s teams for the second half of 2018 after skipping the last two days of a regional selection trial in New York in June.

The USA squad, meanwhile, also includes the likes of Jamaica-contracted top-order batsman Steven Taylor and the Barbados-contracted pair of batsman Aaron Jones and leg-spinning-allrounder Hayden Walsh who will now miss the final round of matches in the CWI Regional Four Day Championship that starts on March 14.
