Police have charged the man held in relation to the murder of East Portland Member of Parliament, Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield.

He is 21 year-old Anthony Sutherland of Buff Bay in Portland.

A statement from the police communications unit, says Sutherland was charged with murder, following a question and answer session with investigators, today (Mar 1).

He is expected to face the court, next week.

Dr. Bloomfield was found dead at his home in Portland, with several stab wounds on February 2.

Following investigations, a suspect was picked-up and interrogated by the police, but was later released.

He was then re-arrested after additional evidence connected him to the scene, at the time of the murder.
