The Balaclava High in St. Elizabeth is to be renamed in honour of late Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke.
This was announced at a ground breaking ceremony at the school Thursday, which is to see the addition of some eight classrooms.
Permanent secretary at the Education Ministry, Elaine Foster-Allen who attended the ceremony says the proceedings were led by Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller.
Several people turned up at the ceremony to include Roger Clarke’s family, school representatives from in and around balaclava, several persons from the political directorate and residents.
Roger Clarke, a longstanding member of the governing PNP, died in August last year after suffering a heart attack.
He was 74.
