Auditor Generals Department to be audited

by March 4th, 2019

An audit of the Auditor General’s Department is to be undertaken.

This was revealed by Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke at this morning’s (Mar 4) meeting of parliament’s Standing Finance Committee, which is examining the 2019/2020 estimates of expenditure.

The issue was raised by State Minister for Works Everald Warmington who pointed out that for about ten years, he has been asking about an audit of the Auditor General’s Department.

He said he was told that the finance ministry is responsible for conducting such an audit and questioned why a report has not come to parliament.

Mr. Warmington demanded that the audit be done for the next fiscal year, saying there is need for accountability from the Auditor General’s Department.

Meanwhile, Dr. Clarke said an audit will be done of the Auditor General’s Department.
