Chang says police working to tackle spike in armed robberies in Montego Bay

National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang has sought to assure that the police force is doing all possible to restore normality following a recent spike in armed robberies in Montego Bay St. James.

The latest incident occurred today (Mar 10) on Jarrett street in which a courier transporting a large amount of cash, in the company of a security escort, was attacked by armed robbers.

Two persons were shot and killed in the incident.

Dr. Chang noted that today’s robbery and shooting, was the latest in at least 6 homicides over the past 24 hours, as well as the latest in at least 6 robberies in recent weeks.

The minister said the police are putting in the necessary resources to respond to the concerns of the business community and citizens of St. James.
