Nikita Miller calls time on Four Day first-class career

by March 11th, 2019

Veteran spinner Nikita Miller has called time on his Four Day first-class career.

He made the revelation at the end of his 100th first-class game where the Jamaica Scorpions faced the Barbados Pride in the CWI Regional Four Day Championships at Sabina Park.

The left-arm orthodox spinner, who made his first-class debut in 2005, was dominant in the regional game where he claimed 538 wickets at an average of 16.99.

These include 36 five-wicket hauls and on 12 ten-wicket hauls.

Miller, the former Scorpions captain, has also been handy with the bat scoring 2282 runs averaging 17.55 runs.

The 36-year-old was recently honoured for reaching 100 first-class games by the Jamaica Cricket Association.

As of June 2013, Miller boasted the lowest First Class bowling average (15.51) of any active player in world cricket. Despite his staggering returns in regional cricket, he has been overlooked by the West Indies selectors in favour of other spinners as Devendra Bishoo (FC Ave: 29.77), Sulieman Benn (27.58) and Veerasammy Permaul (24.36).

His lack of opportunity at the Test level he says also contributed to his decision to step away at this time.
