Ombudsman orders stop on road works in East Portland

by March 12th, 2019

Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown says she is writing to the Prime Minister to halt road works being carried out in East Portland.

This follows statements made by the Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) at a recent public meeting.

The chairman allegedly referenced road works carried out by the East Portland by-election candidate, Ann Marie Vaz.

The Political Ombudsman says it is totally improper for works to be done as part of a campaign.

She is urging citizens to be vigilant and not to accept unlawful behaviour from politicians.

Noting that the JLP representative was a no show at a meeting set for today (Mar 12), Mrs. Parchment Brown says the next proposed meeting will be with the candidates of the East Portland by-election.
