A new Minister of Education is expected to be appointed by this weekend.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement while responding to questions from the Opposition in parliament this afternoon (Mar 20).

This in the wake of the resignation of Ruel Reid.

The Prime Minister met with Senator Reid and requested his resignation following allegations of corruption and cronyism in the ministry.

Mr. Holness said the Office of the Prime Minister, which has taken over the portfolio responsibility, will be doing a review of the ministry.

As it regards a replacement senator, Holness said there is time within which this appointment can be made.
