by March 23rd, 2019

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the rehabilitation work at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James is on track for completion by the end of this year.

Last month, the Professor Archibald McDonald chaired, independent oversight committee for the rehabilitation project at the Cornwall Regional Hospital said the type five medical facility should be fully operational by November.

According to Dr. Tufton rehabilitation is taking place according to plan.

The work includes replacing plumbing and electrical fittings, repairing the roof and replacing the ventilation system.

Dr. Tufton said Cornwall Regional Hospital will be restored to much more suitable conditions and regain its status as western Jamaica’s premier medical facility.

He said adequate funding is in place to ensure the full rehabilitation of the hospital.

He was speaking with journalist following Thursday’s tour of the ongoing restoration work at the problem plagued hospital in Montego Bay, St. James.
