Opposition raises questions about statements from Health Ministry on influenza

by March 30th, 2019

Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr. Dayton Campbell has raised questions about conflicting statements coming from the Health Ministry, about influenza in Jamaica.

Yesterday, the public became concerned about the virus, after it was revealed that the wife of a popular radio personality died from complications due to H1N1 influenza, commonly called Swine Flu.

The Health Ministry later claimed that there is no swine flu in the country.

It later said there were 3 deaths related to the H1N1 influenza virus.

These cases were said to not be the same as swine flu.

However, Dr. Campbell rubbished those claims, saying they are the same.

Campbell said the Health Ministry’s actions are irresponsible.
