Trinidad  and  Tobago  Prime  Minister  Dr  Keith  Rowley  is  adamant  that  there  was  no  government  interference  in  the  Cricket  West  Indies  elections  which  saw  Ricky  Skerrit  emerging  as  the  new  president  of  Cricket  West  Indies.

His  comments  come  after  several  Caricom  heads  were  vocal  in their  calls  for  a  change  at  the  top  of  the  board.

However  Dr  Rowley  says  he  was  extremely  happy  with  the  outcome  of  the  elections    while  adding  that  he  had  nothing  personal against  former  president  Dave  Cameron but  found  him extremely disrespectful  to Caricom

Rowley  is  of  the  view  that  the  ICC will  one  day  create  two  divisions  of  Cricket  and  West  Indies  will  not  be  in the  top  echelon.

In the  meantime  new president Skerrit  says  he  intends  to  make  sure  the  legends  have  a  key  role  to  play  in Caribbean  cricket  development.

He  says  the iconic   former  players  are  invaluable  resources and  need  to  be  utilised  properly in order  to  get  the  full  benefit  from their  advanced  knowledge  and  experience.

This  follows  controversial  comments  from  former  president Dave  Cameron  who  claims  some  west  indies  legends had  not  excelled  when  asked  to  perform  roles in the  administration.

Skerritt  says  he  has  met  with  some  of  the  former  players  since  taking  over  the  board.
