by April 5th, 2019

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has lauded Jamaica’s partnership with China, in relation to health care services, as this will be beneficial to the island.

He was delivering the main address at the opening ceremony for Bright Journey, China’s eye care mission to Jamaica, at the Kingston Public Hospital, this morning (Apl 5).

This is the second visit of the bright journey mission to Jamaica. The first was in May 2015, when more than 200 Jamaicans benefited from free cataract surgeries.

Dr. Tufton said this time around, some 500 Jamaicans are to benefit from cataract surgeries and additional equipment and supplies will be donated to the KPH.

The Health Minister says about 4,000 Jamaicans are on a waiting list for eye surgery.

Members of the Chinese technical team of five ophthalmologists, three nurses, two engineers, and one technician, will work from the Kingston Public Hospital, until the end of April.
