Eleven-year-old Jamaican Karting protégé Alex Powell has an  intense  schedule for  the  rest  of  the  year.

The  new  Mercedes  formula -one  signing returned  from  Italy  last  night  for  the  Easter  break, but  has  a  host  of  engagements  leading  up  to  December  including  representing  Jamaica  at  the  pan  American  championships.

This  was  disclosed  by  his  father  and  mentor  john  Powell  on  Irie  Fm’s  what’s  The  score  programme  last  night.

Alex’s  achievement  makes  him the  first  Jamaican to  sign  with  a  formula one  team   the  pinnacle  of  motorsports  worldwide………….his  father  puts  the  achievement  into  perspective.

12-year-old Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli along with Powell will join Esteban Ocon and George Russell in the Mercedes formula one  junior programme.
