Stop corporal punishment, or face the consequences

by April 16th, 2019

School administrators and teachers are being warned that if they continue to apply corporal punishment in schools they will be severely dealt with under the law come September.

That warning was issued by State Minister in the Ministry of Education Alando Terrelonge, as he addressed social workers employed to the Child Protection and Family Services Agency at the field services conference earlier today (Apl 16).

He said discipline that demoralizes and dehumaizes children will not help them in the future, but rather will make them harder to function in the society.

Terrelonge said, should school administrators and teachers continue to practice corporal punishment come September when the new school term begins the state will be treating the matter very seriously.
