by April 20th, 2019

A trust fund of $13 m has been established to compensate victims of the Coral Gardens atrocities committed against Rastafarians 56 years ago, in St. James.

Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang said arrangements for the fund have been worked out, between lawyers for Jamaicans for Justice and lawyers for the government.

The minister was speaking at the 56th anniversary of the observance of the coral gardens atrocity, at the Pitfopur Nyabinghi Centre, in St. James, yesterday (Apl 19).

Dr. Chang said the fund is for the Rastafarians who suffered in the 1963 incident and should be seen as a symbol.

Dr. Chang added that a comfortable home is being acquired by the government to house survivors of the coral gardens incident.
