Holness: Rhyne Park houses will be affordable

by April 24th, 2019

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has sought to assure that the housing units to be constructed in Rhyne Park St. James will be affordable to residents, especially those working in the tourism sector.

He was speaking at the Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ) contract signing ceremony at Jamaica House, this afternoon (Apl 24).

Holness outlined that the initial proposed plan would have resulted in homes that would be too costly for many Jamaicans.

He said through a joint venture agreement with a construction company, a new pricing range was reached.

It’s expected that a one bedroom apartment will cost $7.9 m.

Holness explained that benefits from the National Housing Trust (NHT) will greatly aid in person’s ability to acquire one of the many housing units to be built in Rhyne Park.
