The Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) earlier today (Apl 29) withdrew its strike notice against the Jamaica Public Service (JPS).
This after UCASE and JPS met with representatives of the Labour Ministry, due to the impasse over wage negotiations.
Last Friday, UCASE issued a 72-hour strike notice on the management of the company, citing a breakdown of the wage and fringe benefits negotiations.
The notice was due to expire this afternoon.
UCASE General Secretary John Levy said today’s meeting was fruitful, and that the JPS presented an improved offer to workers.
The parties are to meet again on Thursday to continue talks.
The union represents over 400 technical and administrative staff at JPS.
